U-Band Balanced Mixer Upconverter

980U-45.5/51.4/10/1.85mmF/387 | 45.5 to 51.4 GHz

Description

The Mi-Wave 980U-45.5/51.4/10/1.85mmF/387 U-Band Balanced Mixer Upconverter is a compact millimeter-wave frequency converter designed to translate lower-frequency IF signals into RF output signals from 45.5 to 51.4 GHz. Its broadband performance supports U-band communications, radar, telemetry, test and measurement, and millimeter-wave research applications.

The upconverter accepts IF input frequencies from 0.1 to 6 GHz and uses a 45.4 GHz local oscillator to generate the required U-band RF output. The unit has a maximum specified conversion loss of 10 dB, with a typical measured conversion loss of approximately 9.2 dB.

The LO input accepts signal levels from −2 to +3 dBm, with 0 dBm typical. The mixer operates from a nominal +6 VDC supply, with tested supply voltages ranging from +5 to +10 VDC. Typical supply current is approximately 0.60 A.

The RF interface uses WR-19 waveguide with a UG-383/U flange. The IF input uses a female SMA connector, while the LO input uses a female 1.85 mm V connector. DC bias is supplied through a feed-through pin.

The gold-plated 6061-T6 aluminum enclosure measures approximately 1.5 × 1.5 × 1.3 inches, making it suitable for integration into compact millimeter-wave transmitter assemblies.

Typical applications include U-band communications, point-to-point microwave links, radar transmitters, telemetry systems, electronic warfare, signal generation, frequency-extension systems, test and measurement, laboratory research, and custom millimeter-wave upconverter assemblies.
