Adjustable Circular Polarizers Series 283

Mi-Wave’s Series 283 Linear to Circular Polarizers are precision-engineered waveguide components designed to provide flexible polarization control across microwave and millimeter-wave frequency bands. Similar to the Series 282, the Series 283 converts linearly polarized RF input signals into circularly polarized output signals while maintaining low insertion loss, low VSWR, and high polarization purity.

A key feature of the Series 283 Polarizer is its selectable output polarization. A manual switch integrated into the unit allows the user to select the desired polarization sense, providing Right-Hand Circular Polarization (RHCP) or Left-Hand Circular Polarization (LHCP) operation. The unit can also be switched to convert the signal back to linear polarization, providing greater flexibility for systems requiring multiple polarization configurations.

The Series 283 operates by controlling the phase relationship between two orthogonal electromagnetic field components within the waveguide structure. Precise manipulation of these components produces the required circular polarization, while the selectable mechanism allows the polarization state to be changed without replacing the polarizer or reconfiguring the RF system.

This selectable polarization capability makes the Series 283 particularly useful for satellite communications, radar systems, telemetry, antenna testing, RF research, and other applications where polarization requirements may change between operating conditions or test configurations.

Circular polarization can reduce sensitivity to antenna orientation, improve polarization matching between transmitting and receiving systems, and provide more reliable signal performance in environments where antenna alignment or signal propagation conditions may vary. The ability to switch between RHCP, LHCP, and linear polarization further expands the versatility of the Series 283.

Series 283 polarizers can be integrated with reflector antennas, conical horn antennas, scalar feed systems, horn lens antennas, and OMT-based antenna architectures, providing a flexible solution for antenna systems requiring selectable linear and circular polarization operation.
