Ku Band Receiver with Integrated Omni Antenna

970 Series Receiver| 14-16 GHz

Description

Mi-Wave’s 14–16 GHz RF receiver with an integrated omnidirectional antenna provides a compact, self-contained solution for receiving microwave signals and converting them to a lower intermediate-frequency output. The system combines an omnidirectional antenna, internal local oscillator, receiver electronics, frequency-conversion stages, and signal amplification within a single assembly.

The receiver operates across a 14 to 16 GHz RF input frequency range and provides an IF output from 3 to 5 GHz. An internal 11 GHz local oscillator performs the required frequency translation, eliminating the need for a separate external LO source during normal operation.

With approximately 45 dB of receiver conversion gain, the unit provides a strong IF output for connection to signal-processing equipment, spectrum analyzers, digitizers, and other 50-ohm microwave systems. It delivers a typical output P1dB of 12 dBm and typical saturated output power of 17 dBm.

A 10 MHz external reference input allows the receiver’s internal frequency source to be synchronized with other system equipment. The reference input accepts power levels from +3 to +7 dBm, with +5 dBm typical.

The receiver is housed in a rugged 6061-T6 aluminum enclosure measuring approximately 10.395 × 7 × 4 inches. It operates from a typical +12 VDC supply and includes an SMA-female IF output and a 2.92 mm female RF interface.

Typical applications include microwave signal monitoring, telemetry reception, radar support, spectrum surveillance, communications intelligence, test and measurement, direction-independent signal collection, and laboratory research.

Short Description: Mi-Wave’s 14–16 GHz RF receiver combines an omnidirectional antenna, 11 GHz internal LO, 45 dB conversion gain, and a 3–5 GHz IF output in one rugged assembly.
