The Mi-Wave 970980A-35.61/KF Ka-Band RF Transceiver is a precision transmit-and-receive system designed for fixed-frequency operation at 35.61 GHz. It integrates both transmitter and receiver signal paths within a single platform, enabling bidirectional frequency conversion between Ka-Band RF and 4 to 5.5 GHz IF frequencies.

Engineered for applications requiring high frequency accuracy and spectral control, the transceiver supports a 600 MHz operational bandwidth and uses a highly stable local-oscillator architecture with frequency stability of 50 ppb or better. The unit supports an internal LO as well as an optional external LO input accepting power levels from 0 to 6 dBm. An integrated ±100 kHz LO frequency-sweep capability supports fine system alignment, characterization, and testing.

In transmit mode, the transceiver accepts IF input levels from −45 to −20 dBm and produces a 35.61 GHz RF output from 0 to 6 dBm. The transmit path provides 1 dB peak-to-peak gain flatness and harmonic suppression of 20 dBc.

In receive mode, the unit accepts RF input levels from −20 to 0 dBm and provides an adjustable IF output from −10 to +10 dBm. This output range enables flexible integration with downstream receivers, digitizers, signal processors, and test equipment.

The 970980A-35.61/KF is housed in a 19-inch chassis and operates from an approximately 230 VAC, 50 Hz power source, making it suitable for laboratory, ground-based, and fixed-infrastructure installations. The RF and LO interfaces use K-type coaxial connectors, while the IF connections use N-type coaxial connectors.

Typical applications include Ka-Band radar, point-to-point communication links, telemetry, RF test and measurement, scientific research, and sensing systems requiring bidirectional operation, exceptional frequency stability, and repeatable RF performance.
