Double-Ridge Horn antennas , also called dual ridged horn antennas are a solution for gain reference, far-field test ranges and reflector feeds for high gain applications. Popularly used in anechoic chambers found in high tech laboratories and test centers like the ones found at Mi-Wave.
Another common application for Double-Ridge Horn antennas is to use it as a “substitution antenna” for determining the Effective Radiated Power (ERP) and/or Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP) of intentional radiators (RF transmitters). These tests are typically applicable for products operating within licensed frequency bands. They are also used for acceptance tests per ETSI standards for radio equipment in Europe.
Double-Ridge Horn antennas can also be used for site comparisons, shielding effectiveness tests of large enclosures, field monitoring, site surveys and other general purposes.
