Millimeter Wave Scanner Airport Security
Millimeter wave technology is being used all around the world in many applications. One of the most important is airport security. Terrorist attacks and innumerable threats in recent years have sped up development of the millimeter wave scanner to be utilized for airport security.
A 3-D airport security scanner has been developed by scientists at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. This new technology utilizes the millimeter wave to produce a three dimensional image of persons passing through. This image can be produced in 10 seconds or less and is completely harmless.
What makes this millimeter wave airport security scanner unique is that is can detect things that metal detectors cannot. It can pick up on plastic explosives and ceramic weapons that might otherwise pass through standard security. It also eliminates the need for person to person searches, which have been a problem in the past.
